New Single: “Tourist”

Jo MacKenzie is an 18-year-old self-produced AAPI indie-pop artist, hailing from her bedroom studio in Kansas. After recent success with her duo Baby and the Brain’s debut album BrainBaby, she is now releasing “Tourist,” a musical marriage between Phoebe Bridgers’ lyricism and Lucy Dacus’ sentimental rock and roll, on December 3, 2021.

She wrote this song with songwriter Josie Carmichael during her first time in New York City and co-produced it with Eighty-Ninety’s Harper James. “Tourist,” is about the disillusionment of big-city promises and the realization that everyone is a tourist. Everyone is after the same idealized illusion. This is only the first of many singles Jo will be releasing this coming year.
